In Light

for clover, art is comprised of three parts: creation, restoration, and history. while she is an artist of some import, her primary work lies in being a conservator; taking pieces damaged by time, improper care, and war, and restoring it to the original painter's vision.

Guidelines

  rule 001.   : preface.
I enjoy plotting and forming long term RP connections, and prefer writing with people and characters 25+. however, i run a free company so that often takes up the majority of my time.
  rule 002.   : clarity.
Typos and grammar errors happen either way, but please try to keep it to a minimum. I have difficulties visually processing long strings of words in-game and this can make it more difficult for me. I understand those that are esl though!
  rule 003.   : interest.
Fleshing out and digging into the psychology of characters and their interactions fascinates me, and most of my RP is geared towards that.
  rule 004.   : content.
I am open to all types of RP but am not interested in romance or erp.
Themes of violence are commonplace in my writing.

  rule 005.   : writer.
Hello! Call me Isa. I'm 25+ and am in the Pacific time zone. I enjoy art, reading, and RPing when it strikes my fancy. I love doing content as well and I'm always happy to run stuff with others.
  rule 006.   : seeking...
I'm mostly interested in finding new friendships and connections for Clover. And, admittedly, any connections that can work for the silent grove. Send me your crime characters please. :)
  rule 07.   : not seeking...
I'm not interested in any OOC relationships beyond friendship, thank you for understanding!
I also prefer to write with characters that are balanced power/skill-wise.  rule 08.   : addendum
Tenebrism is a core concept of this carrd and character, and what you see is not quite what you get. I leave that to you to uncover how throughout this carrd, if it strikes your fancy to do so.

Premise

On introduction, Clover is a conservator and artist; tasked with restoring damaged or destroyed paintings for museums, historical organizations, or individual clients. While she has her own workspace, due to the need from multiple clients, it is often safer to travel to the location of the damaged painting in question rather than risk further damage through transportation. As such, she can be seen anywhere from Aldenard, to Ilsabard, to Othard, and beyond.Clover presents herself as a warm and curious sort, often vested in getting to know others. She can have a playful or sly demeanor, but most see her as a motherly sort, if a bit hard to get to know on a more personal level.

Abilities & Skillsets

Conservator    Clover is well trained in restoring paintings. the practice itself is one requiring great patience and observation, and for a race that is quite well known for their long lifespans, it seems she was quite literally born for it.  Eye for Detail   As both an artist and conservator by trade, Clover can tell much about a painting based on the texture, scent, or tone of paints used, the fabric of canvas, or even the preservatives in use.

History

  • some twenty to thirty years ago, clover fled dalmasca when the empire invaded it; landing in thavnair, ilsabard for a period of time, before making her way to aldenard. she settled initially in the black shroud, and then branched out to the other city-states.

  • she is very reluctant to speak on her life in the kingdom prior to fleeing, but credits her life there to her training as both an artist and conservator. she studied under a couple masters within rabanastre, eventually reaching enough acclaim to have painted portraits for some of the various princes and princesses of the kingdom throughout. most notably, the younger nobility seemed to enjoy her more surrealist style that developed towards the tail end of her life in dalmasca; finding it bold and vivid.

  • it took some time for her to return to her roots in the art field once more. for a time, she worked as a curator for different museums and private collectors (most notably syndicate members, and then later various ishgardian houses that were of some import) before her reputation was trusted and notable enough to return to the work of restoration.

  • these days, she works a lot with various forms of government previously at war with or occupied by the empire. a lot of her work in aldenard has mostly been with ala mhigo, and in othard she has worked with doma on smaller cases.

Hooks

  •   networking.   art is not just about talent, but about networking. especially when it comes to getting access to rare, priceless pieces for curation or restoration. as such: clover learns to be a people person because of it, and works hard to get to know others to ensure that.

  •   artwork.   whether it's restoring a damaged painting, appraising a found one, or even painting an original work, clover has a strong expertise when it comes to the subject... as well as a vested interest.

  •   commissions.   Following that line of thought, it's not uncommon for others to seek her out to commission a painting. portraits are her specialty, and her style borders on surrealism - done to capture the spirit and soul of a person, rather than merely imitating their appearance. she blends this surrealism with a focus on light and shadow, using it to portray unspoken messaging. on the other side of the coin, however, clover takes on commissions to procure certain rare, high-value pieces for specific clientele.

  •   dalmasca.   Once upon a time, Clover was but painter of various figures of importance within the Kingdom. Following the Empire's invasion, however, she fled quite suddenly, and hasn't returned since.
